The town of Vis is situated on the northern coast of the island along a most fascinating bay of St.George, closed ring-like by a small Host islet. It is the only place on the island having a daily ferry-boat and hydrofoil connection with Split, 30 nautic miles distant coastal town

During the summer season it is also connected with the towns on the Italian coast ( particularly Ancona).The town of Vis is a good choice for those coming without their cars, because all the necesary facilities are at hand in the town. A pebbly beach is about 100 m away from the centre of the town, there are also some smaller beaches on the other side of the bay, in the vicinity of a marina. There is the biggest number of categorized and registered private units – apartments and rooms. Here you can choose several locations: sunny Bandirica with the view on the Vis bay; the centre of the town, old town nucleus; attractive Valica or romantic Kut (Corner) and Marina. Most of them have the sea-view, a terrace and a barbecue in their garden, the greatest distance from the sea being 500 m.
